The 2020 Virtual
Fine Arts and Beyond Showcase

The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation, Inc.

welcomes you to visit the

2020 Virtual  Fine Arts and Beyond (FAB) Showcase

The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation, Inc. was hesitant to concede to recent events, maintaining hope of hosting a traditional FAB Showcase, scheduled for Saturday evening, April 4th. With the cancellation of on-campus classes the remainder of the 2020 school year and the governor’s order that large gatherings be cancelled or postponed indefinitely, we agreed that the best option was to go Virtual.

With the assistance of the Art Department, snapshots of over 240 pieces of art were taken, and over 100 images were received from the photography classes. We apologize, but due to size limitations and availability, not all the pieces that would have been displayed at the FAB Showcase are included in the Virtual FAB, but even a limited collection is impressive.

Music is a huge component of the FAB Showcase, so we open the show with an inspirational, poignant video, featuring our own Butler High School Virtual Choir and its performance of the song Give Us Hope – conducted by Dr. Bryan Helsel.

In addition to the artwork, please take time to read through the Virtual Program and note the many local businesses, and individuals, that support the mission of The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation, Inc. The Foundation Board of Directors are truly grateful for our sponsors' generosity. The gifts will enable us to continue our effort of encouraging excellence in the Butler Area School District.

Drawings for the 50-50 Raffle and Gift Baskets will take place on May 20. The winners will be contacted and given instructions on how to retrieve their prizes.

Each year, students vie for the FAB logo. The winning 2020 Virtual FAB logo was created by Carson Boden. T-Shirts displaying this terrific logo can be purchased. Please see details listed below.

COVID-19 has forced many changes that few could have anticipated. Adversity challenges us all but can also inspire new ways of thinking. The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation would have preferred to host a traditional FAB Showcase, gathering as a community and celebrating our students' creative talent in the visual and performing arts. We will continue that tradition next year; mark your calendars for Saturday, April 10, 2021.

In the meantime, we echo the message of our accomplished musicians and vocalists that

Hope will not be cancelled.

Please join with The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation Board of Directors, Teachers, Administrators, Support Staff, Business Sponsors, Individual Sponsors, and School Board Members in celebration of our students' rich creativity and abundant talent via the . . .

How does the FAB benefit students?

The Fine Arts & Beyond (FAB) Showcase is a community-wide showcase of artistic work and musical talent of Butler Area School District students and professional community artists. Traditionally, in addition to sponsorships, student artwork from secondary grade levels was available for sale along with a Basket Raffle, Cornhole Madness Game of Skill, and a 50/50 Cash Raffle.

Proceeds from FAB help The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation, Inc., provide funding to a number of programs such as:

  • Creative Teaching Grants
  • Kids' Weekend Backpack Program
  • Scholarships for graduating seniors with financial need
  • Much needed technology
  • Other scholastic projects supporting our Butler Area School District students
